Your Chance to Ride in Tiger 131

WIN A RIDE IN A WW2 TANK

The Tank Museum are offering the chance to ride in Tiger 131 at a day dedicated to the Tiger tank – Tiger Day, 16 September.

Tiger 131 is the only running Tiger I in the world and visitors travel from around the world to see the Second World War tank run. The Tiger was one of the most feared German tanks of WWII, and during its service had a formidable reputation.

Tiger 131 was the first Tiger to be captured intact by the Western Allies and it has been an icon ever since.

The Tank Museum is giving Tiger fans the chance to win a ride in its most famous exhibit in a charity ebay auction and raffle. The lucky winners of each will take their seats on 16 September at Tiger Day, where over 4,000 visitors are expected to gather.

At Tiger Day, the world-famous tank is paraded in front of thousands of spectators.

2nd prize in the raffle is a ride in Panzer III. The Germans used the two tanks closely alongside each other in the early days of the Tiger’s service. 3rd prize is a ride in resident film star the Sherman ‘Fury’ from the 2014 Fury film, which also featured Tiger 131.

Head of Collections Chris van Schaardenburgh said: “It is now 80 years since the Tiger’s capture, and for every hour of operation it requires many hours of maintenance from our Workshop Team. By entering the auction and raffle, you are directly supporting the conservation of our historic vehicles.”

The auction will run 28 July to 7 August, and the raffle will be drawn on the 28 August. All profits will go towards the preservation of the Museum’s historic tank collection and ensuring that Tiger 131 can be kept in running order for years to come.
